Diplopia/ Double vision problem
Diplopia is a condition where a patient sees two images of the same object. It may be either monocular or binocular. It may result due to misalignment of eyes in adults due to any trauma to the orbital bones or paralysis or muscle dysfunction. Diplopia can also be caused by intracranial tumours and would warrant neurologist/neurosurgeon intervention in addition to the ophthalmic care.
Diplopia can be treated by using either surgery for brain, orbit or medical management to treat the underlying cause. Squint may have to be corrected either by use of prism glasses or squint surgery based on the type and angle of squint.
